educational theorist Peggy Macintosh advised administrators and
teachers to "de-emphasize discipline and excellence in thinking"
because they were 'white male elite concepts." She instead encouraged
the teaching of "truisms from the domestics sphere," such as
substituting the study of great music and art with the examination of
quilts, pots, pans, and shapes of bread.
