Following the massive terrorist attack on the United States, several Palestinian Authority officials told the Associated Press that they "cannot guarantee the life" of a cameraman who filmed 4,000 Palestinians celebrating in the town of Nablus if his footage were to air. As a result, Americans only saw footage of smaller celebrations that took place earlier in a different town.

Arafat was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1994.]
