In Seattle, Customs inspectors applied a chainsaw to an imported
cigar store wooden Indian to check for narcotics. The
Customs Service
does not compensate property owners for damage it does
during inspections, nor is it obliged to. In another case, Customs
inspectors who were searching for drugs disassembled an entire
airplane, and the owner had to put it back together again.
