An Inclusive Litany
9/29/97
Protesting meat consumption as part of its "Summer of the Hot Dog,"
members of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals picketed the
Oscar Mayer Weinermobile at one of the vehicle's stops in San Diego,
where it had been sent on a charitable mission to raise money for
muscular dystrophy research. According to PETA spokesperson Bruce
Friedrich, the Weinermobile "is very, very fun, which is why it's so
invidious [sic]. It's selling the idea that eating hot dogs is fun,
when in fact it is a violent, bloody business."
