Education Week devoted a full page to a commentary that
criticized parents who displayed "My Child is an Honor Student
At..." bumper stickers, and lauded other parents who had responded
with stickers declaring "My Kid Beat Up Your Honor Student." That
slogan, declared Mark Mlawer, executive director of the Maryland
Coalition for Inclusive Education, "helped clarify the issue" by
expressing the "resentment at the unfairness of the honor roll and at
those who flaunt their child's academic feats."
