At Amherst-Pelham Regional High School in Massachusetts, "spreading
sex gossip" is among the offenses defined as sexual harassment,
punishable by "parent conference, apology to victim, detention,
suspension, recommendation, or referral to police." To U.S. News
& World Report columnist John Leo's question concerning what
would happen if a student told a friend, "I think Marcie and Allen
have something going," superintendant Gus Sayer responded, "That would
qualify as sexual harassment."
