It its retraction of a story claiming that global warming was causing
ice around the North Pole to melt, the
New York Times noted
that "about 10 percent of the Arctic Ocean is clear of ice in a
typical summer" and "the lack of ice at the pole is not necessarily
due to global warming."

claiming widespread withdrawal of nationwide community support for the
