Following the example of Sweden, the Italian government has outlawed
the spanking of children who misbehave. Italy's highest court handed
down the ruling in the case of a girl who had been slapped by her
father at age ten and then complained to the police. "Italian parents
can no longer hit their children even if they think a smack is of
educational value," Reuters reported.
