An Inclusive Litany

The New York Times ran an article examining jokes and various
other forms of "age-bashing" directed at Presidential candidate Robert
Dole, who, if elected, would be the oldest man to assume that office
in American history. "Racism and sexism have long been taboo in
mainstream American politics," wrote Richard Berke, "but in this
Presidential campaign there is a high tolerance for ageism." However,
nowhere in the article did Berke mention the distinct possibility
that, upon assuming office at age 73, the old buzzard might croak.
