General de la Langue Francaise prosecutes French companies that do not
provide French translations of English words in publicity material. In
one case, a fast-food restaurant chain was fined for advertising
"hamburgers" rather than
steak hache. For the sake of Gallic
simplicity, a jet must be called an
avion a reaction, and
le bulldozer has been officially changed to
le bouldozeur.
